| 7 | Gloucestershire | 51.828405 | -1.828537 | Westwoods Centre, Northleach GL54 3QJ | <p>Lectures are held at the Westwoods Centre, Northleach, Gloucestershire and commence at 11.00 a.m, normally on the second Thursday of the month, and they cover a wide range of historical and arts-related subjects including architecture, music, ballet, gardens, literature, the lives and work of famous artists, jewellery, cultures and civilisations etc. </p><p>The talks are given by experienced and highly qualified lecturers who are experts in their chosen field, drawn from a directory maintained by The Arts Society Head office. They are for members only but guests may attend at the invitation of a member and prior arrangement with our Membership Secretary for a small charge. </p><p>In addition to our monthly meetings, we also organise visits to museums, country houses and gardens and places of historic and artistic interest as well as trips to London art galleries and exhibitions. Meetings are held at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall generally on the third Monday in the month from October to June. Lecturers are all acredited by The Arts Society and travel to us from all over the UK, many of them regularly touring internationally. </p><p>Lectures are currently on line via ZOOM due to the coronavirus, when it is possible to do so we will return for live lectures to <strong>Highnam Community Centre</strong> (Gambier Parry Hall), Newent Road, Highnam, Gloucester, GL2 8DG. There are <strong>ample parking facilities</strong>, together with <strong>good disabled access</strong> and the venue is on a <strong>service bus route</strong>. </p><p>All the years lectures will be available at the time, live online to members who are unable to attend on the day. </p><p>Lectures are not held in February (when there is a Special Interest Day) or in August. </p><p><strong>Visits</strong> are arranged to places such as art galleries, houses of historic interest, museums and gardens, often linked to one of the monthly lectures. <strong>Special Interest Days</strong>, usually consisting of 3 themed lectures, are organised for members wishing to expand their knowledge of a particular topic, for which tickets are sold. </p><p><strong>Arts Volunteering</strong> projects are funded from the proceeds of the monthly raffle to encourage an interest in the arts by people of all ages. </p><p>Members receive three issues of <strong>The Arts Society Magazine</strong> per year and are entitled to certain <strong>concessions</strong> such as reduced entry to events, museums and galleries. In addtion to our own lectures, members have access to regular online lectures and articles by accredited lecturers.</p><p><strong>Visitors and Guests</strong> are welcome to attend or view online up to two meetings per Society year, Sept - Aug ; a donation of £5 is requested which will be <strong>refunded</strong> for guests who join at the end of the meeting.
